Perfumery is the ancient art of blending scents
to produce a particular scent quality. Blending oils is extremely important
because making individual therapeutic blends is the basis of an aromatherapist's
work. It involves understanding the different types of scents and how
they work together. Scent quality is important in aromatherapy because
it is necessary to produce a blend that is pleasing to the person using
it. Essential oils are most often blended with carrier oils and then
administered in a variety of ways, such as in massage oils, lotions,
rubs, sprays, diffusers, and so on. In some countries they are even
taken internally, such as in France and Germany. They can be used for
medicinal purposes and cosmetic purposes. The scents of essential oils can be divided into families.
These are the floral, chypre (woody and earthy), green (fresh and clean),
and oriental. Scents are divided into top, middle, and base notes. Top
notes are fresh and light. Middle notes usually form the main character
of the blend. Base notes are rich and heavy. Aromatherapy is like an
aromatic symphony. These fragrant blends are pleasing to the senses,
but they also work on a deeper level to help restore balance and bring
about harmony and inner peace.WANT TO LEARN MORE? CLICK HERE!
